Scottish Catholic Safeguarding Service

The Reid Family are so proud and privileged to receive such amazing feedback from the Bishops Conference in Scotland. This conference has been one of the highlights of the year. We were very impressed by the openness and hospitality of the group and particularly their humility and courage in embracing the impact of an honest and challenging presentation.

This was truly an ecumenical event at the heart-level as members of the family spoke of their family history within a Protestant area of Belfast and dialogued with these Catholic Clergy around historical clerical and institutional child abuse. The Reid Family Presentation was evaluated in glowing terms by the participants – a sample of this feedback is listed below.

(1 = very poor and 6 = excellent)

* Perhaps to be better earlier in the Conference so that things could be discussed in full.

* Excellent and encouraging to hear the advice of survivors.

* Very much appreciated their story and honesty.

* Powerful beyond words.

* One of the most profound moments in safeguarding I have experienced.

* Thought provoking, powerful testimony.

* We will learn.

* Brilliant. Should be used again. They are very special.

* Excellent and powerful.

* Superb conference. The Reid family can only raise your spirits. Thank you.

I must say this is the first time ever a presenter has received a '6' from everyone!

That in itself tells you something; Well done!
