Buddy System

Senior Pupils as Buddies

Our programme is an affirming intervention experience which teaches children the skills and attitudes required in being buddies to younger children in the school. We liaise with each individual school in how best to implement the Buddy Programme according to its size and ethos. Pupils who complete this programme receive a certificate of recognition.

Our programme describes:

  • What is a buddy relationship?
  • Why this school will be happier with a buddy programme
  • Responsibilities of the older child in being a good buddy
  • Putting the buddy system into practice
  • Skills for the buddy to use
  • Attitudes the boy / girl need if they are to become good buddies
  • Examples of good buddy practice
  • Role-playing
